About Medical Information Management Software
(DoctorSoft, abbreviated as "DRS")



DoctorSoft (DRS), is a commercial medical information / electronic medical record system, which allows users to record medical information of patients. The DRS supports Microsoft users. Then the data server of DRS selects the equipped M16 database, Microsoft SQL database, or Oracle database.  

The DRS system provides an interface of Component Object Model (COM). You can use the interface to read and record the information of DRS database, which can connect the third party easily, such as image saving system, inspection system etc.


Up until now, DoctorSoft is the only system that covers clinics, public hospital, and pharmacy in Japan. The DRS is a flexible and multi-functioned product, and it’s designed to be used in different occasions. Competitors have developed independent systems for different medical related locations (public hospital, clinic, pharmacy). In contrast, DRS provides a united system, it can be used in various possibilities, resulting a low cost product.

Running a hospital and making diagnosis is not a simple and rigid work, they require professional and specific knowledge. 

Each hospital has its own operating process, over various educational institutions and actual experience to control work procedures, description, organization, and assurance of message.

Thus, introducing electronic medical record system often requires a specialized system. It is necessary to create thousands of customized templates because there are many needs to use different types of templates. Take a general hospital as an example, the different templates are the operating template during medical consultation, prescription template, nurses follow doctors’ instruction template, etc. In addition, the DRS is specified to different hospitals and doctors, these operation template (MMI: Man-Machine Interface) are therefore unlike to each other.

There are similar products that were created by other competitors; those products are specific to each hospital, department, or even the needs of the doctors. As a result, the cost for developing such products increases.

On the contrary, you can build your own electronic medical interface template to satisfy the needs from different departments, and even particular needs according to doctors’ work. There is no programming needed in order to build the interface template. You can create a personal page that suits you better which it can diminish the use of time and human resources.


Instructions, Data, and Viewing Structure

During the medication, most instructions are given by doctors. Nurses, inspection department, pharmacy department, department of rehabilitation, and other departments follow doctors’ instruction to carry out their duties.

Most of the systems on the market are very complex and expensive due to having too many programs that have to suit each department, doctors. Those programs are high-priced and complicated because doctors send instructions to departments, then they interpret those instructions following the departments’ manner. Hence separate programs are created and became very costly. Also, if the content or the process of instruction has to be changed, the program would need to be renewed; in that case, the institution will be spending more time and money.

As for DRS, the transmission of instruction is very straightforward and adaptable: for the instruction is part of the medical record.  



The interface (MMI) in DRS gives access to a variety of medical records. Although DRS does not include any images of x-rays or nuclear magnetic resonance, you can always purchase a third-party software that provides the function. The third party software can be connected to DRS using its COM, and they still work as a unified program. Additionally, through the interface of DRS, you can send the instructions of image check to the third-party software.

Doctors can send instructions through their interface to the nurses, and they receive information on their interface. Doctors’ interfaces can be viewed by permitted nurses as well.


Cooperation of Multi Medical Institution

DRS is not restricted by location; the program shares the medical records of a patient to a separate medical institution.

By sharing the patients’ medical history, most of the systems that are on the market now need to set up a central database server to contain details. However, DRS has no such a database. DRS comes with DRSCOSMOS (abbreviated as DCM) that shares data of patients.

Mesh, a network that connects all the DRS database server and clients together, is designed through DRSCOSMOS (it is built by IPv6 and P2P). If you want to search data of a specific patient from another hospital database, DCM sends a query to all DRS computers. When the query is received by the hospital’s DRS, it will search the database server and reply the enquirer directly. The whole process of questioning and replying only requires several seconds.

Enquirer receives the feedback through IPv6 which connects to the database server that contains the medical records. Approval is needed for the enquirer to connect the database. After the approval, the enquirer can use the system freely. 



The function of DRSCOSMOS allows you to visit the remote database directly. To protect and secure patient’s information, it is necessary to confirm the user’s identity. DRS has its own user authentication system, it is supported by an international standard approved system, KERBEROS. It is a unit of DRSCOSMOS and independent certification system in WINDOWS.


Examples of Different Functions

1.      The medical information work page can be read as English, Chinese, Japanese, and other languages. Name, address, past medication record, prescription, semiography of the patient in different languages can be shown at the same time.


2.      A dynamic template: You can easily change the design of the template according to the different departments in the hospital. As shown in the image below, semiography, inspection, diagnosis and any other detailed information are illustrated in the template. There are thousands of individual templates currently operating in our clients’ company.


3. You can insert information voluntarily into the template. The following images show you how to use the table to insert symptoms information of a patient. You only have to left click the selected box and it will appear related options for you to choose. When you have completed the table, it will show the selected items.


4. Specialized doctor diagnosis interface: when writing a prescription, the doctor can refer to images, blood tests, etc. On the screen instruction page, the ID of the doctor, date and time of making instruction will be shown automatically. If the instructions is undertook by the associated department, the identity of the workers and the date will be shown as well.


5. Special treatment/inspection action interface: it processes image analysis, blood test results, etc. The top image below shows the blood test, and the bottom image shows imagery. When the associated department receives the task, the operatives use their specialized templates to analyze the situation. The templates show all the correspondent information to the operatives to fit their needs.



6. DRS supports functions like condition monitoring, inpatient, treatment arrangement etc. You can check current condition of any patients on any computers in the hospital, such as patients are in medical consultation, patients wait to check in, patients are checked in, patients completed treatment, etc. With the real time information system, it speeds up the processes in the hospital, and shortens the waiting time of patients; as a result, the efficiency of the hospital accelerates.



7. A straightforward history browser for prescription record, inspection history, medical record, semiography etc. If necessary, you can organize the information according to time, so it makes it easier for you to read the past records.
